Offputting

Maybe a bit early on that spring forecast, but that's the way I roll.
I was into Blink 182 when they were Squint 91.
I had the idea first with "Ferris Bueller's Morning Sleeping."
I had the song first with the lyrics "I'm gonna party like it's April 1997."
Sixteen candles? I liked nineteen better!
7-up? Give me 14, and don't skimp on the up.
Yeah, I've always been a bit off, as I've said before. Take yesterday (but not
my wife, please), for instance. I could have sworn yesterday was the coldest
day we've seen in years. Maybe it was the cold, moist air. Maybe it was the wind.
Maybe it was the dank, grey (English to Okie translation: "gray") skies.

Or maybe I'm an idiot?
HEY, I heard that, and it's Christmas-time. You want to get on the naughty list?
Turns out, it's not even going to be the coldest day this week. We'll leave that
to Saturday, after another strong arctic front on Friday.

But we'll enjoy a bit of a spring rennas...renaisa...revival. Very EARLY spring,
but we'll take those 60s this week before the bottom drops out (and we all know
just how painful that can be).

Looking for that next big snow? Well, it's not showing up anytime soon. Rain
either.

Now you may not like my forecast, but how about my song?
“APRIL ’97 (Dry Version)”
I was freezin’ when I wrote this
Forgive me if I go astray
April’s supposed to bring showers and flowers
But this one brought dust and a wind chill of seventeen
The wheat was lookin’ thirsty
Prairie grass crispy like it’d been fried
And the wind gusts hittin’ Woodward
Made my trash can achieve full, majestic flight
Say—two thousand zero zero, party’s still far away
But we’re gonna dry up like it’s April ’97
Say it again!
We’re gonna dry up like it’s April ’97
Now the heck did that not hit??
