Have I told this story before? I might have told this story before. Excuse me
if I've told this story before. The Ticker website has a search feature, which
could tell me if I told this story before, but that would be too easy.
So the story goes that back in January 2012, I bought a, uhhhhhhhh, 2012 Kia
Optima. Then it went to my twin girls in high school, then it went to my son in
high school. Fast forward (way too fast) and lots of other stories and life later,
I am back in the 2012 Kia Optima. Now the thing about the Optima I have is it's
air conditioner is pretty shaky. It starts out good, but after the first time
coming to a complete stop, it pretty much just blows hot air. And I know a lot
about spewing hot air (no Taco Bell jokes, please). Now back when my kids inherited
the car, they would ask me to get the AC fixed, but being the cheap Dad that I am,
I would just tell them "Ahhh, it'll build your character."
Now that I'm driving it again, I'm once again building lots of character! Now I
could go get the AC fixed for myself, but being the cheap person that I am, I
refuse since the repair would cost more than the car is worth.
Here's the deal, though. Driving the car was fine back January through about
mid-June, but NOT SO FINE after that. Long story short: I'm ready for summer to
be over. And not just sorta over, but over enough where that first stop sign
doesn't send me back to the sauna.
That ain't happening this week. We'll get a short break in the heat with some
rain chances coming up this week, but we may have to wait until the end of NEXT
week to get some real fall-preview weather in here. Think early-October weather,
not mid-September.
So the heat goes on.
We start to catch a break Wednesday into the weekend with those rain chances,
but closer to seasonable than October.
Those rain chances really pick up as we get into Tuesday night and Wednesday.
Doesn't look like a huge event, but as usual, some folks could get a lot in
a short period of time, whilst others close by go without.
Like we saw this weekend.
Besides lots of rain, these summer storms can also bring wind, like Buffalo saw
yesterday afternoon.
81 mph? No thanks!
But that Sunday forecast map looks nice.
Yes, thanks. Anybody want to buy a car? AC optional.
