Drought drought done drought

Our drought drought is starting to fade as drought is looking more likely as our
drought of rain starts to extend past 30 days, meaning drought is near and our
drought drought might be over soon.

Say drought again, I dare ya!

Oh, that was me. Well, doesn't matter who says it, we just find ourselves (some
of you, look harder) in an odd situation worrying about drought in the midst of
one of the top-20 wettest summers (thus far) in at least the last 100 years.

Wow, nice, right? The only thing that could possibly screw that up is Mother
Natur (she'll get her e back when she starts behaving better) and her
shenanigans over the last 30 days (and counting).

Those are some serious deficits for mid-July through mid-August. Even though
our summer has been somewhat mild, it's still "hot," and there's still lots
of evaporation, and lots of demand for all that soil moisture from the sun
to poof it up into the air (SCIENCE!), or be used by growing vegetation.

Soil moisture is starting to dwindle.

Vegetation is starting to get a bit more yellow, on its way to brown. Look how
green it is this week.

Compared to where we were just one month ago.

Somewhat natural for August, before that jet stream starts REALLY dipping down
into our territory, bringing better chances of rain just in time for the State
Fair. What about the next week? Looking pretty bleak. No, I didn't mean to
rhyme. It seems to happen all the time.

Not TOO big of a worry, though. I'm sure our next drought drought rainyness
is just around the corner.
