Escalation

Some things are just plain weird, man. Like ears. Or lightning.

Let me explain. Empty your head of all thought (it's okay, I did it years ago and
never looked back). Okay, now take a look at somebody's ear. I mean REALLY take a
look. It's almost alien-esque in its design and structure. In fact, it's almost
Alien-esque (you've seen the movies). Why not dog ears? Or cat ears? Why this
knobby protuberances surrounding this hole in our head?

And what about lightning. Speaking of aliens, suppose you were one that had just
come to our world to explore, and you just happened to land in front of a
thunderstorm. Wait, what's this? Sizzling appendages of death randomly striking
from the sky, with millions of volts of electricity and hotter than the surface
of this world's sun?

INHOSPITABLE! Move along. Back to planet Ooglog.

Get the picture? Okay, now here's another one...early August rainfall, and lots
of it. The forecast worked out somewhat well, but it certainly wasn't perfect.
Northeastern Oklahoma largely missed out, although Tulsa and surrounding
environs got a good dose of 2-3 inches or so. More importantly, SW OK got a
good soak as well, halting their steady advance towards drought, and resetting
this map down that way.

And what are we left with? One glorious August day spent imagining late-
September, then back to the pressure cooker.

Don't worry though, our next surprise is right around the corner. It always
is.

Now let's take a look at noses!
