Acclimation

Oh, it's coming alright. Many of you dread it, many of you fear it.

No, not a bathroom trip after Taco Bell (although it certainly applies)...summer.
Even I, a devout summer-nista, lover of all things 100F and above (except milk...
gross!), don't want to see what's coming.

Oh (again??), I'll take these types of highs anytime, like tomorrow.

But it's the humidity, people! The humidity offense my Panhandle sensibilities...
land of the big sky and dry air. You think hot milk is gross, look at the heat
index for Tuesday.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! (Oscar moment here)

We never even got our hot, dry days. All we've gotten is rain, more rain,
mild, more mild, but no hot and dry. It's un-Okie, I tell ya. Here's a closer
look from our NWS friends.

We're just too wet, which is supposedly a good thing UNTIL IT GETS HOT. Then,
much like my mirror tells me every morning...not so good. The fact that we've
had the 5th-wettest first 16 days of June in at least the last 100 years
doesn't help matters at all. Except to keep us out of drought, of course. And
there's more rain on the way, and possibly more severe weather. Another thing
you don't have to worry about in a hot, dry heat.

No thanks! We're already up to 68 tornadoes for the year thus far, and counting.

But here's the deal...some of us won't be ready for the heat. We lack the
acclimation of a prolonged ramp-up in both actual air temps and heat index
to get us ready. Check out this graph of departure from avg. statewide max
temps since May 1.

Maybe a day or two excepted, summer hasn't even been a THING yet.

Oh (third try), it's coming alright.
