What a glorious feeling?

Another 3 days off, another 3 days of excitement (what, you want BORING weather,
move to San Diego!)? Maybe too much excitement once again, but the storm reports
from SPC show the locations.

I had a half-day Friday so I threw it in there, too. Hey, "Half-Day Friday" was
my band's name at Yale (no, not that Yale)! So we had a few tornadoes (a few too
many!), lots of hail, and lots of wind. Also a massive heat burst that spiked
temps at Chickasha to 96 degrees on Sunday and had widespread winds above 60
mph thanks to a line of dying thunderstorms.

Right, even when our storms are collapsing they're producing damage!

Heat bursts are a special form of downburst when a lot of suspended
precipitation descends rapidly from a dying thunderstorm. Under certain
atmospheric conditions, a bit of evaporational cooling leads to compressional
warming which in the end results in a burst of windy, hot air (which describes
most of my Tickers). Often this occurs at night when the environment has
already begun to stabilize.

I could tell ya more about heat bursts, but then I'd have to bore ya.

Too late? Well, it's late-May and we have more boring, unsettled weather ahead.
Nothing too crazy, nothing too calm. Just some storms here and there, maybe a
few strong/severe, the above-mentioned rain forecast totals, and a bit of May-
like temperatures.

At the very least (hey, "The Very Least" is the name of my new motivational
self-sabotage book!), we did get everybody some rain over the past week.

Come on Hobart, a hundredth of an inch ain't enough, but at least it didn't make
me a liar.
