Hothier than thou

HA! Poteau Pete was right...6 more weeks of winter. And y'all thought that rodent
up north was sooooo smart. And you thought I was sooooo dumb!

Well okay, you scored a 50% at least.

I would say "that about covers the arctic blasts," but I'd be wrong. Not that this
one wasn't enough (or isn't, since we're still in it). Check out these bone-
chillers from this morning and NOW (remember, now is then when you read this, but
then is not now).

That about covers the arct...wait, I tried that already. But no, it would appear
after another roller coaster few days of cold-warm-cold-warm, we'll see another
bigtime arctic blast early next week, that could come complete with snow, ice,
and wind chills AND actual air temps down below zero again.

The good news:

(get it?)

No, for real, the good news? We're still 5-6 days out from this cold calamity,
so lots of time for a change in our weather fortunes. Oh, it's gonna get cold,
and for several days, but maybe we can avoid the most impactful part of snow
and ice.

The bad news? Yes, it can change, and that change can be for the worse as well.
We just saw that yesterday where the cold air plunged farther south than
forecast, and with it went the ice. You can actually still see a lot of that
snow and ice on the latest satellite map. Notice the streaks of frozen precip
laid down from SW to NW?

So I said roller coaster temps, and you can see that here:

Extend that a day or two and the roller coaster transforms into THE PLUNGE OF
TERROR!
