January Shmanuary

You knew it was coming...you can't keep a good Oklahoma winter down for long.
Fresh off of tying (possibly breaking, we'll see when more data come in) for our
warmest year on record, you knew winter was going to hit the fan eventually.

Right, come for the warmth, stay for the tornadoes? Not exactly a great tourism
slogan!

Yesterday's statewide average temperature of 29.5 degrees was the coldest day
seen in Oklahoma since Feb. 17, 2024's, 28.4 degrees.

And that's WITH some of those pre-front highs from early early (did I mention
early?) yesterday morning mixed in. Today's average temps are gonna be off the
charts. Well, they'll still be ON the charts, but really really low. Give me
a break, I was supposed to be off today! Who can take time off when the weather
is so exciting? Yesterday's snow and ice weren't enough I guess. Northern
Oklahoma go theirs yesterday, now the rest of the state gets to play later
this week, most likely starting early Thursday into early Friday, and again
most likely an I-44 to the south and east type of snowfall.

I use "most likely" kind of loosely, because...chaos at 72 hours out!

I will say the forecast models are starting to coalesce (and we all know just
how painful that can be!) into this Southern-track storm, and we'll surely
get a Braum's DEF-CON alert map tomorrow. Yes, very exciting, and don't call me
Shirley. But remember, the forecast models giveth, and the forecast models
don't giveth.

"Take away?" Take off, hoser!
