I won't lie...I MIGHT have gotten up at 5:30 am and checked the low temps out
in the Panhandle to see if we could break that record low for the date of 4F
(also my draft status if I had lived during WW 2). The forecast was still for
the teens, but I had a feeling we might see a precipitous drop right around
sunrise. We did come close, so onto bigger and warmer things...

MMMMPPHHHHH...okay, I can't contain myself (and we all know just how painful that
can be)! IT'S REALLY COLD! We're getting dangerously close to the coldest air of
the season, and that 6 degrees at Kenton ties for the lowest air temperature
recorded this season back on Nov. 19 at...yep, Kenton. Historically, we had 4
degrees at Goodwell back on this date back in 1974 for the lowest temperature
ever recorded on a Nov. 30 in Oklahoma, then 5 degrees at Beaver (1952),
Claremore (1976), and Kenton (1974).

In other words, it's cold in Oklahoma today, but it's DARNED COLD out in the
Panhandle.  Factor in the wind and it's DARNED COLDER.



But that's not even the cold stuff, which lies perched to our north.





And that's after a lovely day/half-day/morning for the state, depending on
where you were, timed with the frontal passage.



Bright sunshine (is there any other kind??) will ensure or insure, choose
whichever is the proper grammar, that we don't threaten those record low
high temperatures for today.





My only advice is to wait until Friday for this whole winter deal to blow
past us.



(Then it's back to winter on Saturday, then past us again by Monday...then
back again on Tuesday).
