Hey, I'm no super-genius (go ahead and laugh!) but even I know that some parts of
the state need a bit of a drying out. SOMEBODY in Custer Country (you know who you
are) must have promised either God or the other one something special if they
could just get lots of rain.

Say this to yourself with an incredulous voice: "Yeah, 7.19 inches! I'd say so!"

If you said it out loud and you're by yourself, that's troublesome. BUT, go look
at all your neighbors and see if anybody is either becoming a Priest or has
turned all red because somebody's prayer or promise was answered. Judging by the
excess, I'd say it was "the other one," you know what I'm saying? And if you do,
stay away from me.

Here's the other side of that coin...the Panhandle needs more rain. LOTS MORE!
Maybe not 7.19 inches, but 2-3 over several days would be great for a start.
And if you look at that top map, maybe it's on its way. That's 3 words, 2 different
"its" for those keeping track, so I've used up my allotment.

Now as for the Drought Monitor this week, keep in mind most of that rain across
western OK has fallen AFTER the Tuesday 7 a.m. cutoff that we can consider
when making recommendations for the map, so this is woefully overdone across
western OK.

Stay tuned for next week's map. It should look a LOT better. No more promises
though, right?

Speaking of demons...did you know Hollis had a wind gust of 99 mph back on May
31? Actually it was 99.4 mph, so almost 100 mph!

It was right at 6:45 pm as a thunderstorm struck, and it is the highest wind
speed ever measured at the Hollis Mesonet site. That'll put a bit of a KABOOM
in your iced tea!

No, I don't know what that means.
