The Mason's Freezing Line

No, I'm NOT happy, Dan, and I'll thank you to mind your own business! The cold
front is currently sweeping through the Plains right now, quickly replacing
our summer from yesterday into winter today. Now we're not actually recommending
that you get in your car and speed to the southeast. That would be foolhardy when
you can take a leisurely drive to the airport and grab a plane to Florida. Don't
stop anywhere in between, though, because it's gonna be one of THOSE days in the
South.

Seeing that puts our 1-day foray into winter in a bit more perspective for most
folks. My own perspective...winter is a harbinger of forlorn hunger, when even
the apricity (it's a word, look it up!) of a sunny day fails to break through the
miasma (it's a word, look it up!) of existential angst the frigid, biting winds
bring to the unhabitable (it's not a word, look it up!)Oklahoma landscape.

English to Okie translation: winter sucks.

I miss this already.

But hey, it rained! Now at times the difference between the haves and not-haves
was a razor's edge, but good on those that got it.

Where are you on that map? HA! Nice try, YOU aren't on the map...those are
Oklahoma Mesonet rainfall totals. But, you can see if there are any totals near
your location that helped you out with drought conditions or not.

AND, the feared-but-not-definite bout of severe weather was definitely not
widespread nor particularly severe.

So we now look forward to a chilly chili-day and a winter's morn tomorrow
before we head back to spring. We will also see chances for rain on Friday and
then again early next week. Of course, any time we see chances for rain this
time of year, storms are probably at least a bit player.

By the way, that 94 at Hollis yesterday was the highest temperature recorded in
the state since the 23rd of October 2021 (also Hollis, and also 94 degrees), so
we're getting at least back to, uhhhh, October weather.
