BORRRING
Welp (Okie to English translation: "Well"), if that was our excitement for the
winter, I guess it was okay. We got a bunch of snow in spots, a bunch of ice in
other spots, and not nearly enough in too many places. But the run up was fun,
right? Just about everybody had a good 6 inches forecast at one time or another.
Here are the snow total maps put together by our local NWS offices, and a listing
of every "official" snow total reported by a volunteer observer.
Hooker won the prize with highest volunteer observer total at 10.5 inches, but
a long ways away in central OK, Seminole came close with 10 inches. And let's not
forget the ice that fell down across southeastern OK.
And that brings our seasonal snow totals up to a decent winter total for most
of Oklahoma.
Obviously those that missed out on the best moisture were those that needed
it the most, out in west central Oklahoma. That is also reflected in the
liquid-equivalent totals from the storm, as measured by the Mesonet rain
gauges after the snow melts, and also the gauge-guided radar estimates.
That actually reset some of our nasty looking numbers on the days without a
tenth of an inch map, but didn't really dent the quarter-inch map.
Unfortunately, we are still in deficit mode across the entire state, at least
over the last 30 days. The moisture was AWESOME, despite its impacts for the
most part, but we still need more.
So after ALL OF THAT, back to reality. We're back to being mostly sunny with
highs mostly above normal and just glancing blows of cold air from a couple of
dry cold fronts over the next 7-10 days (and maybe longer).
BORRRING!
