Melted Chocolate Factory

Full disclosure: I prefer the Andrew Garfield Spiderman character above all
others. What does that have to do with weather? Nothing, but most things I say
have little meaning. One more disclosure, there is a hint in the long-range models
of a big cold front sweeping down the Plains (I know, right!) about 9 or 10 days
from now. Remember when we had a big cold front sweeping down the Plains (I know,
right!) scheduled for the start of the State Fair about 9 or 10 days ago? Yeah,
so put the possibility of the coming front for next week in the "I'll believe it
when I see it" category. Oh yeah, this week's front will arrive Tuesday and drop
us down close to normal for this time of year, and bring a chance of rain. That
means highs in the mid-80s or so if we're lucky on Wednesday, but not a whole lot
of rainfall--mostly across northern OK.

There is a chance for some impacts from Tropical Storm Nicholas down across
far SE OK, but the remnants of that storm appear to be scooting off to the
NE pretty quickly after landfall on the Texas Gulf Coast.

Following the minor excitement of our minor front this week, it's back to the
frying pan, at least through the weekend and early next week when we can then
await a POSSIBLE front of undetermined strength.

It is, after all, climatological fall (Sept. 1-Nov. 30), and we SHOULD see temps
start to fall. Eventually. Some parts of the state are nearing 30 consecutive
days at or above 90 degrees. And Buffalo hit 107 on Saturday, tying for the
highest temperature recorded during 2021. In mid-September.

Fall is dandy but air conditioning is quicker.
