Ill-logical

Another flip-flop? Last Ticker I think I praised the current "cool" spell,
mainly due to the dry air. So why the flip-flop? Why would I now call it an
"Evil-Spock" summer? Why the inconsistency?

Because that's just what they would expect me to do (insert pic of Robert Stack
from "Airplane" here). By the way, Robert Stack's best role...ATF Agent Flemming
from "Beavis and Butthead Do America" or Captain Rex Kramer from "Airplane"? I
stuck to the classics. Ah, never mind. Back to the weather. Today marks the
last day of our dominant mild pattern as we start to push that statewide average
line back towards the long-term average for this time of year. Tomorrow, it's
back to the frying pan.

We will have a chance for some rain today, then Saturday, then possibly the
middle of next week. It doesn't LOOK like a lot right now, but a few folks could
see some heavy downpours. Strong-to-severe winds will be a possibility on
Saturday.

The rain would come at a good time, because we are seeing some deficits start
to grow at the 30- and 60-day time periods.

We have seen just a bit of increase in moderate drought up in the far NW body
of the state, but also a bit of abnormally dry conditions starting to creep up
from Texas into OK down in the southeast.

We've been able to dodge the bullet on any new drought due to Evil Spock, I
mean the cooler than normal conditions keeping the pressure off much soil
moisture loss, but things are heating up again with those deficits already in
place. So it bears watching.

Live short and fail, drought.
