Boy Named Heat Stroke
Well, our on-again/off-again summer heat is about to be on again. I would have
added the hyphen again, but I've been limited to two per sentence. See, I could
have said "two-per-sentence" but then I'd have broken the rule. What were we
tocking about again? Oh yeah, the heat dome out West is about to slide our way
again, and we're going to be baking under the August sun. We're talking (no, not
tocking) about highs in the 90s and 100s again, and then we add in the heat and
sunshine to get to dangerous heat values. Nothing too extraordinary for August
around these parts, UNLESS you're talking 2021's onagainoffagain (HA! Nobody tells
me how to hyphenate.) lunacy.
Luckily, we still have a couple of nice days left. Now before you ask yourself
"Hey Gary, I thought you liked the hot weather?" you might want to figure out
why you're calling yourself Gary if that's not your name. More lunacy. But no,
this year with the hot weather comes high humidity and heat index values. I've
just switched completely over to loving the drier air, like these dewpoints we
have in the 50s and 60s, combined with air temps in the 80s. Nice.
In a couple of days, however, we'll be back to the pressure cooker. The heat
starts out west and heads east Thursday and Friday.
The air isn't going to be particularly juicy this time, it looks like, but
enough to push those 90s to triple-digits in some areas.
The heat dome is a burning thing, and it makes a fiery ring. I won't say it's
bound by any desire *I have*, however.
