MOSQUIT-NO!

Look, I know I'm late to the game here complaining about these little devils
(as opposed to Little Debbie's, which are delicious!), but the mosquitoes are just
a tad ridiculous, no? One of my daughters asked me to help her with some
basketball handling drills yesterday evening, and having been a pincushion whilst
mowing the night before, my answer was an emphatic "NYET!" Now since she doesn't
understand Russian, I then said okay, but the first sign of a mosquito and I'm
outta here. Or back in here, I guess. So I walk outside with her and within 3
seconds, a mosquito buzzes my face.

Seeee yaaaa!

We all know rain gives mosquitoes a good breeding ground as it sits in puddles,
old tires, cups, etc. And lots of LOTS of rain give us those big buggers, the
flood mosquitoes...the ones that can lift you off the ground and carry you off
to points unknown. So the forecast of rain over the next couple of days,
especially tomorrow, and then continuing for the next week or so, gives us the
urge to itch mosquito bites we don't even have yet. At least tomorrow's storms
could be severe, which is an odd thing to wish upon us, but I'm hoping some
strong winds and hail will kill at least one mosquito.

It is July, however, so the severe risk is pretty marginal, and strong winds
are the the main threat.

Other than that, still not seeing any real hot air showing up for awhile,
other than some near-seasonal heat. We stay a bit warm, but not unseasonably
so, through the weekend before we see another front early next week.

A drought would be good...not a meteorological drought, but a mosquito drought.
I'm darned near out of extra blood.
