Unfortunately correct

Yep, take a look at that forecast from last Friday. Trust me, from the bottom of
my water-logged heart, I wish they had overdone it, but it looks like the folks
at the Weather Prediction Center really pegged that area along I-44 that looked
to receive 4-7 inches of rainfall. Some areas received less, some received more,
but all in all, the axis of heavy rainfall set up as expected. There were
several Mesonet sites that exceeded 6 inches of rain, but radar estimates
of 12-16 inches showed up in the far northeast. The overall result was lots
of flash flooding, water rescues, and washed out summer fun.

Again, that forecast was from LAST Friday, so let's move on to the current
rainfall forecast map for the next 7 days, which shows that this airmass should
stick over this area for a bit longer, then another trough will approach going
into next weekend and up the rain chances once again. For those that missed
out and NEED rain, maybe this batch will get ya. For those that don't need it,
and there are plenty of those, any heavy rains will up the odds of flash flooding
due to the saturated soils.

All this rain and thick cloudiness is keeping us much cooler than normal, and
even kept yesterday's high temperatures down in record-breaking low-tmax
territory.

Don't expect much of a warm up for this week...maybe not until the middle of
next week. As usual, folks that see sun (please, do not look at the sun!) will
have temps jump a bit higher, and if you're getting rain, a bit cooler. But
it does look like next week will also be on the mild, wet side (gross!).

Eventually, we'll have to pay the piper. No cash, no digital currency. It will
accept sweat, however.
