Fun while it lasted
Cold front #438 currently moving through the state, ruining our little run of
spring while at the same time providing yet another day with fire danger. The
Beaver Mesonet site recorded the highest temperature seen in the state this year
thus far with an 88, and then Boise City dropped to freezing this morning. THAT
is the Panhandle for ya.
It's not that I dislike cold fronts...I LOATHE cold fronts. I would say "despise"
but Newman ruined that with Keith Hernandez. And I know cold fronts are gonna
rule the day for another month or so, and they're sorta necessary for us to
get showers and storms, and thus precipitation. But after February's silliness,
I'm tired of them. My trees and shrubs are tired of them, if they're still
alive, that is. The current cold front (SAY "COLD FRONT" ONE MORE TIME!) will
at least interact with a bit of moisture and hopefully generate some rainfall
for parts of south central Oklahoma. There will be a small chance of severe
weather, which basically means there will be a chance of severe weather. Spring
in Oklahoma, after all.
That's about all the action we'll see for awhile.
We will see a hard freeze tonight in the northwest, and a freeze across the
northern third of the state Thursday. Oklahoma, after all.
Cold fronts are due to become extinct here in a month or so, and they'll be
downgraded to cool fronts. Remember, this isn't some air mass that was
obliterated by deforestation or the building of a dam. Cold fronts had their
shot and Summer selected them for extinction.
Summer will find a way.
