Yeah, be on the lookout for any old bearded guys dragging pairs of animals around.
NO, not Tiger King...the other guy. Now we're seeing all that Oklahoma has to
offer in the space of a few days.
Let's start with today. We have a critical fire danger day as we go through the
afternoon with winds gusting over 45 mph, prompting a wind advisory AND a red
flag fire warning.
Weather like that in the spring generally means a front is approaching, and
that is exactly what is happening. The front will have a dryline ahead of it,
and that could be the focus for some severe weather tonight across northern
OK. Wind and a bit of hail appear to be the main threats right now.
Do I need to keep telling ya to be weather aware? It is Oklahoma, after all.
That front will enter the state and then stall, leaving us a focus for more
showers and storms over the next few days. Friday-Sunday appear to be
some of THOSE days in Oklahoma, when all modes of severe weather appear
possible. Take my advice...invest in cardboard. I bought it at 15 cents/ton,
and it's now up to 20 cents/ton. I bought three tons of it...well, I don't want
to brag, but you know.
But even BETTER advice is to clean out those storm shelters today. Get all your
emergency supplies together, charge those batteries and whatnot (the secret
is tending to the whatnot).
Now during part of this time, there should be a front stalled out somewhere
across the area, providing a focus for rounds of showers and storms, hence the
threat of flash flooding and the old guy with all the critters.
I haven't even mentioned what's coming next week. Remember, Spring Broke?
Well, we have enough to be aware of through the weekend. We can go back to
"OH CRAP, WINTER!" mode on Monday. For now, these images are the most important.
