That's a bit of alright!

Hey, I know everybody wants snow when we get precip, being that it is January
and all, but I'll take a cold rain if it helps the drought situation in SW OK
and/or the western Panhandle. The Panhandle missed out this time, but we did see
from 0.5-1.5 inches across the drought-stricken areas of the SW. We even hit that
abnormally dry area down in south central OK with a half-inch to an inch or so.
And it was with storms as well, so that was an added bonus. Never hurts an Okie
to hear thunder any time of the year. Well, as long as you're not struck by the
lightning that produced that thunder. We did have some small hail associated with
the storms, a bit bigger down in Bryan County along the Red River where some 1-inch
hail was reported. Pretty benign, however.

The rain is exiting the state, and we'll see some colder air filter down into the
area tonight, then we could see a bit of snow tomorrow across the northern half
of the state. Not much in the way of accumulations, save for the far NW and
Panhandle where an inch or three could end up on the ground before all is said
and done Wednesday morning.

Nothing like our big snows of December or early January. We missed the big snows
for a change today.

Expect a warm up as we get later into the week. This looks like a pretty nice
Saturday to me!

Not so fast. We will probably see another storm system this weekend, meaning
those 60s will come with a chance of rain and strong southerly winds. Boo. Not
a LOT of rain with the storm systems this week, but enough to chip away at those
dry areas, hopefully.

We're getting darned close to February, which means we're getting closer to July,
which means we're getting closer to nice weather ("nice" defined as highs in
the 90s and 100s).
