All warm things must end
I REFUSE TO QUOTE THAT MOVIE! Most of the time, you can expect a good quote on
these here Tickers, but not that one. Let's kick some ice! Dang it. Sometimes
they just slip out. But, tonight's forecast...a freeze is coming! Well, that
one actually works. And yes, that's an actual quote from the movie. If'n you
don't know what movie it's from, consider yourself lucky.
Our round of severe weather is coming to an end, having blasted SW through NE
OK overnight, currently pounding the southeast. What it's left in its wake is
lots and lots of water. Too much in some cases.
Everybody in the southeast two-thirds of the state got a good drink of water.
The northwest was left out, to a large degree, and the far western Panhandle
continues to suffer a dearth of precipitation, and an abundance of drought.
Most of that drought in the southwest will be going bye bye on next week's map,
if not all of it. No relief for the Panhandle yet, however. Next on our plate
will be the cold front later tonight that will plunge us back into winter.
Expect a driving wind from the SW switching to the north this evening, ushering
in the cold air. We could see winds gusting to over 55 mph in the Panhandle, and
40-50 mph as you head east, prompting a wind advisory for the NW half or so
of the state.
Tomorrow morning will be cold, and tomorrow afternoon downright chilly.
Saturday morning is the worst of it. Expect a warm up after that, and some
chances of rain almost daily with good moisture return from the Gulf.
The April-June outlooks from the Climate Prediction Center are out this morning.
They show warmer than normal conditions for our area, but not much of a signal
for precipitation over the 3-month period. Their drought outlook for the same
period calls for drought improvement and possible removal over all the areas
currently suffering from that hazard in the state.
That's it, Ticker over. I'll bet you expected a "Batman and Robin" quote, didn't
ya? Sorry, you're not sending me to the cooler!
