The winter you deserve

And here I thought early spring this year started in late November. But now we
find ourselves in an unfortunate pattern of bland wintry winterness. After our
delicious bouts of mild weather -- interspersed with just enough winter to make
us believe in the season, but always between warm bookends -- we now face an
extended period of ACTUAL winter. No, not the brutal frigid winter of December
1983, more like the bland winter of whatever year that wasn't memorable enough
to, uhhhh, remember. Like 2004, remember? Exactly.

That's not to say it can't get exciting. One forecast model has lots of snow
for western Oklahoma in the middle of next week, but at that point that is more
fantasycast than forecast. There is a chance for snow across northern Oklahoma
tonight into tomorrow, maybe an inch or so...a bit more in the Panhandle. Whoopee.

And down south where temperatures will remain a bit warmer, a cold rain is in
the works. For those of us within a few counties north and south of I40? Blah.

So we'll plod along for the next week with middling temperatures...never getting
TOO high, but also never getting TOO low.

See, I don't really see how this benefits us too much. We've already seen lots
of warmer weather earlier, so the system has already been "shocked" by above
normal temperatures. Everything is a couple of weeks ahead of where it should
be it seems like, if not more. But the temperatures won't get cold enough to
kill any lingering pests, or provide allergy relief.

I guess we will have to root for that blizzard next week to keep us interested.
At least until spring arrives.
