Yawnnnn
So much for our exciting winter. I mean, the TALK of snowstorms is exciting...the
reality? Not so much. As you look at the track of that storm and see where it
dumped the snow, we actually got lucky because the impacts were quite severe. But
just like my barber was wrong 25 years ago when he said "Well, it looks a little
thin but I don't think you're losing it," the rumors of our exciting winter have
been greatly exaggerated thus far.*
* The tornadoes from November 30th count in the autumn weather excitement column
The snow has dodged us to our southwest, west, north and east. At least we haven't
been outdone by the ArkLaTex yet!
In fact, if you look at the rainfall maps, it's been downright abysmal since
mid-October.
The kicker to all that boring weather is the worst part...it's been much colder
than normal. CONSISTENTLY colder than normal, for crying out loud! Check out
the statewide average high temps since the first week of October, as compared
to the long-term Mesonet averages (2003-2017).
So what do we have in store for us? Well, more of the same. A chance of some
rain (maybe a bit of...well, I'm scared to say) Thursday, with lots of wind.
Oooh, pinch me!
MAYBE, just maybe, a bit of warmer weather in store for next week?
Now no need to start fretting over the chances for a white Christmas just yet.
Our chances are ZERO! NO CHANCE! GET OVER IT!
Just kidding. I saw "The Grinch" and it infected my spirit. We'll know more
about any pattern changes coming our way as we go through next week. Keep hope
alive, we can't stay boring forever. It's Oklahoma, after all.
