Close, but snow cigar
Wow, that snow you see there all the way down to southern Kansas got close to
Oklahoma, but most of northern Oklahoma was left wanting. There was some snow
in that part of the state, but not enough to show up on the satellite map. More
of a tease, obviously. The fact of the matter is, after a pretty eventful August-
October, and a brief brush with winter earlier this month, our weather has turned
downright boring. AND DRY. Check out the 30-day rainfall maps from the Oklahoma
Mesonet. They don't paint a pretty picture.
And to be a bit more precise, the deficits go back longer than just that
prepackaged 30-day period.
Now we *MIGHT* have some rain in the forecast for the coming weekend. It's not
a lot for most of the state, but we'll see how that changes over the next few
days as the forecast if fleshed out a little better.
But don't get excited about snow just yet. That type of deep, cold air is just
not showing up in conjunction with that moisture. We'll have a cold front, of
course. It is winter, after all. But not the true arctic variety that brings
us the snow like previously in November.
Maybe a good rain in the southeast, but no snow just yet. Maybe next week.
Or the week after that.
Or the week after that.
How's that for a long-range forecast!
