Fall-loose

Like any self-respecting clod-hopper from the Panhandle, you won't actually find
me dancing, but I'm ready for a nice day in the 80s with a good chance of rain
here and there. If anything to cut down on my water and electric bill! On the
other hand, the mosquitoes had calmed down a bit with the heat and lack of rain,
but pick your poison there.

These temps aren't *extremely* out of the ordinary. The lowest maximum temperature
for July 27 in OK history is 70 degrees from Battiest alllllll the way back in...
2013?? But temperatures ARE going to go below normal for awhile after today as
that dreaded heat dome backs up to the west, putting us in northwesterly flow
aloft. That means a cool front and a big blob of showers and storms plunging into
OK from the High Plains, usually. Thus, our return to fall for however brief it
might be. Check out these forecast temperatures, starting with our low temps
Friday morning as well, then on into the weekend.

If you look at the medium-range forecasts from CPC and our local NWS offices,
we may stay in a more autumnal pattern a bit longer. At least for much of the
state...southern Oklahoma might not be so lucky.

And rain!

Before we get too overconfident, remember it's a bit dangerous to say what's
going to happen with temperatures TOO far down the road during the summer. As
Dr. Ian Malcolm from "Jurassic Park" would say..."Summer finds a way."

But for the next few days at least, let's enjoy a brief return to fall before
the REAL deal gets here in a month (or two...or three).
