100 watt bulb
Nice little run there for the Oklahoma monsoon (and cooler weather!). The results
were very impressive, providing lots of beneficial rains in the core drought area
across western Oklahoma, and one heckuva wet June for most of the state.
ZOUNDS but that's a lot of rain! But now that the good old summer heat dome is
building in, at least for the next few days, we're gonna bake.
And all that rain that fell? It's gonna make us pretty miserable. Heat indices
yesterday were already starting to inch up into the mid-100s (105, not 150), and
looks like more is on the way over the next several days.
Yuck much? And in preparation for today's pressure cooker, we have a heat
advisory in effect for much of eastern Oklahoma for heat index values of 105-107
degrees.
I'll bet we'll see values a bit higher than that in some areas, and also in the
"non-advised" areas across the rest of Oklahoma. Here are some messages about
the heat from our NWS friends.
We may see a brief chance of rain this weekend. Same scenario as last...storms
build up in the High Plains to the northwest and move into Oklahoma. Nothing
like what we saw this past weekend. Maybe enough to give the ground a good
wetting and cool us down a bit. Otherwise, it's back to the Easy Bake Oven
through July 4th.
Maybe we can try a 60 watt bulb instead?
