RAIN!

We haven't Ticked much lately...too much turkey I reckon. But when we have, it's
been about the lack of rainfall (aka Drought, dry spell, chapped lips weather,
etc.). But what's this? Rainfall in the forecast? Say it IS so, Joe! Well, it is
so, and it's all set for tomorrow night, and generally across northern Oklahoma.

Unfortunately, that's all we see on the 7-day forecast, really.

Now there is some hint, and it's just a hint right now since it's at the edge
of the forecast models' ranges, that we have a storm forming in the northern
pacific that will do the classic drop-to-the-south and bring us some unsettled
weather later next week. Again, at this point it should be met with skeptical-
optimism. Until then, we're still faced with one of the driest mid-October through
November periods on record. The Mesonet rain maps say it all. Check out the
western Panhandle where it has now been 60 days (counting today) without at
least a quarter-inch of rain in a single day. And over a month for virtually
the entire state.

What's it mean for now? Well, during this time of the year, that means FIRE
DANGER, Will Robinson. Lots of dead/dormant vegetation left over from a west
spring, mild summer, and one of the wettest/coolest Augusts on record, just
waiting for the right type of conditions. Sort of like today...warm, windy
and low humidity.

NWS partners, take it!

Keep hope alive for next week's storm system that MIGHT happen...or might not.
Might not hurt to throw that into your letter to Santa.
