Jultober?

I don't know what Mother Nature is on (probably that Parkay stuff again), but
JUST in case you missed it, over the past five days we've had highs up to 95
(Freedom on the 6th...SUMMER), highs as low as 63 on the 7th (Miami, Watonga,
Putnam and Jay...AUTUMN) and lows as low as 26 (Kenton on the 7th...WINTER). I
guess the momentous occasion was the first freeze, however, and it wasn't
at Kenton on the 7th, it was actually Kenton with 31 degrees on the 5th. But it
does give us a new map to start using! YAY!

And we can see just how long those parts of the Panhandle have spent below
freezing so far this season.

Wow, a whole 4 hours collectively below freezing. Okay, maybe not so momentous.
A glance at the 7-day meteogram from the Kenton Mesonet site shows just how
pedestrian this freeze was...the times spent below freezing was fleeting and
temperatures rebounded back into the 70s everyday.

Climatologically speaking (you can do it, just talk really slow about really
boring subjects), we're well past our earliest first freeze date for that area,
and probably just about in line with the average first freeze date. You can
check on these maps for those approximate dates for your location as well.

Now I've promised...wait, threatened to bet??...that we haven't seen our last
90 in the state, and I still feel that way. Despite a cold front in the middle
of the week that will drop us back down into fall mode with a chance of rain

watch for temperatures to rise back into September-ish territory not only
tomorrow, but into the weekend as well.

Somebody's getting 90, dangit! I'll stake somebody else's reputation on it!

As for rainfall, I've enlisted the help of our state's two prominent football
coaches to illustrate the rainfall over the last 7 days. To Sooner fans, I
looked for a happy Stoops face, I just couldn't find it, so he gets the lack
of rainfall duties this go-round. At any rate, we did get some help in the
drought areas last week.

(here's the unencumbered map)

Oh, just for kicks, I did one for Nick Saban too.

Yeah, he ain't exactly Mr. Personality!
