Heat...it's all the craze!

Note: Some knowledge of this current "Pokemon Go" hysteria is needed to get
references in today's Ticker. My advice...stay oblivious like me because the
references are neither humorous nor clever.

Why does Buffalo get a cute little Pikachu picture instead of its Wednesday forecast
temperature of 105 degrees? Because it's Buffalo! But, if you still feel the
need to look down at your phone as you wander around aimlessly, first off...forget
getting hit by a car, worry about heat stroke. Secondly, instead of looking at
some game populated by weird, abstract creatures, how about downloading the
Mesonet App instead? Then you can stare down at weird, abstract weather that we're
so famous for in Oklahoma. The Mesonet App is available for both Apple

and Android products.

It does look like the next few days will be extremely hot across the state,
especially across western Oklahoma where highs should climb into the triple-
digits each day.

Now there will be a chance of rain over the next several days as well, especially
across northern Oklahoma, but an even better chance on Friday. Heck, it's
raining now in NC and SW OK.

This will be an uncertain rain forecast because it will be so dependent on
things like outflow boundaries and frontal placement, but at least it doesn't
look quite so hot on Friday.

After that, prepare for some REAL Oklahoma summer heat as the heat dome (aka "the
death ridge") builds back over the Southern Plains and we bake like slugs on
a hot sidewalk. Don't take our word for it, just ask our friends at the Tulsa
NWS office

"Low rain chances will continue Saturday before a massive upper
ridge takes hold over the center of the country. An extended
period of hot temperatures, with little chance of any rain, will
begin late this weekend and persist through at least next week."

and the forecasters at the Climate Prediction Center (we're actually friends
too, but I'm not sure they know that):

Here's where I'd normally attempt (emphasis on "attempt") a humorous comment
about drought and Pokemon, but since I don't know much about the game, I'll
substitute something more contemporary to me.
