Back to the Spring

Hey, I didn't write this script. Robert Zemeckis and Mother Nature did that. But
as Doc Brown, Marty McFly and that girl from "Karate Kid" fly through the rain
towards today, we hope they realize that this rain, while a bit excessive and
possibly dangerous in some areas, is quite necessary. Just look at these maps and
you'll see why.

For right now, the forecast for rain is still at max confidence, and the totals
do look like what we were seeing between April and July, with most of that falling
in the next 3 days (but we'll give you the 7-day forecast to include any straggling
drops).

Heck, it's been spitting rain off and on for a day or so out west, and if you
look out in the Desert Southwest, you can see the where the upper storm system
is that's waiting to tap into a ton of rich Gulf Moisture.

Speaking of that Gulf Moisture, you can see it streaming up from the Gulf
through Texas towards Oklahoma. Dewpoints in the 70s in late October. Very
impressive! That's a lot of moisture for that upper-level low to work with when
it gets here.

Right now the NWS has a flash flood watch for the western 1/5th of the state,
including the Panhandle, but don't be shocked if this map lights up over the
next couple of days with all sorts of green and red colors.

This is a pretty simple one...we need the rain, but remain weather aware. There
will be a chance of some heavy winds, lightning, and of course, flooding
rainfall.

Tell 'em, Biff!
