By the numbers

81: While still preliminary, that is the total number of tornadoes during May 2015
that the NWS has been able to confirm thus far. As per usual, that number could
still go up if they are still investigating sightings and/or reports. That places
2015 in 3rd place for most twisters during May, and also for any month. Only
2010 (91) and 1999 (90) are ahead of May 2015 at this time.

96: That's the current (yet preliminary) total of tornadoes confirmed by the
NWS thus far, placing 2015 in 7th place all time. The leaderboard is as follows

1999 145
2011 119
1957 107
2010 103
1982 101
1960 98
2015 96

-36.38: That is the statewide average deficit, in inches, from the beginning of
the 2010-15 drought right up until the rain began in earnest (there is no Earnest,
OK, so no joke there) on April 12, 2015. Of course, some deficits in certain
locations were less than that, and some were much, MUCH more.

15.30: The SURPLUS, in inches, since then (April 12-July 27, 2015). Drought
Killer, we'll call it.

15: The number of stations that hit 100 degrees before July 12 during the warm
season of 2015.

150: The number of stations that hit 100 degrees from July 12-July 26.

Buffalo: Okay, technically Buffalo isn't a number, but it is so awesome that it
can serve as either a town OR a number (e.g., "I just won a Buffalo dollars!",
or "it feels like about Buffalo degrees outside!"). Buffalo does lead the state
with 12 days at or above 100 degrees thus far. Yes, there are a couple of other
stations with 12 (Altus, Tipton), but again, they are not Buffalo.
