How do you like THEM apples??
MY reverse psychology trick on Mother Nature paid off (humble, ain't I??) and
the rains came by the pond-full in some places, and a good soak in others. Sorry
Hollis.
As expected, and as forecast by the local NWS offices, the far eastern edge of
the state got the most moisture with widespread 4-6 inches. Several locations
received more than 6 inches, in fact. The blues indicate areas that didn't get as
much, and that sticks out from SW OK up through central Oklahoma. However, it is
currently raining, so maybe we can fill some of that in. You can see that rain
going in the counter-clockwise direction as the big upper-level low moves out
of the state. Check out this massive looped radar image if you desire. Pretty cool
images.

Speaking of "pretty cool," the big news now is the wind and the COOL weather...the
combination of which is making for a blustery fall day. The wind is roaring,
however, perhaps above "blustery" level. We'll just look at the current gusts
from the Mesonet to not be contaminated by any of those severe winds from the
storms last night.
Combine those cool temps with the wind and you get a downright wintry feeling
day in the northwest (headed your way soon!).
BRRRRRR indeed!
We could see some 30s in the Panhandle tonight, so a near freeze for mid-October.
Nothing too out of the ordinary there.
Temperatures recover nicely later this week. Look for 70s and 80s statewide.
Typical fall weather in Oklahoma after that for an extended period of time...lots
of warm days followed by cool nights.
Watch out for that wind today, however. A wind advisory is in effect for gusts
of 40-50 mph. If'n you're wearing a kilt today, don't forget your undies!
