NO-dile!

Well, I'm sure glad the Ticker didn't hype Odile like all those other weather
types did. Yeah, I'm not even sure we mentioned Odile here on the Ticker, but if
we did, I'm sure we cautioned about how persnickety these tropical systems'
remnants can be when they come ashore.

Did that work? Well, okay, we'll dodge the bullets and escape at the end. Odile
now appears to be content wandering around the deserts of the Southwest instead
of heading our way. And accordingly, the forecast rainfall amounts have dropped
off a ledge for Oklahoma.

So there is a chance for some decent rains still, maybe an inch or so across
far far FAR western OK, but some storms could easily produce much heavier amounts.
The air is fairly saturated so lots to wring out if a storm pops up. The local
NWS offices see it this way.

Keep this in mind, however. The very reason that Odile was such a tough system
for the forecast models (they're quite ugly, so the name doesn't fit), the lack
of any sort of steering winds to guide Odile along, means that the current
forecast could still change. Sometimes those systems have moved all the way
across the the East Coast and then traveled back west once again, all due to
lack of a jet stream or strong flow to tell them where to go.

So there you have it. Mother Nature never giveth, so there was really nothing
to taketh away. It was all a computerized fantasy, maybe...a figment of a
forecast model's electrified brain. Again, I'm just glad we never fell for the
forecasts here on the Ticker. At least that's the way I'm remembering...

SQUIRREL!!
