Find a happy place!
Sunday, maybe.
Because today ain't working. As predicted, nearly the entire state suffered a hard
freeze last night, and every station was at freezing or lower. The only station
not suffering a hard freeze appeared to be Boise City, coming in at 32 degrees.
It doesn't appear any record lows were set, but they came pretty darned close.
We can see the duration of this current freeze event that has hit the state over
the last couple of days, and just how long areas have been below freezing, and
below-below-freezing.
So now every Mesonet station has been at or below freezing at least 9 hours over
the last couple of days, and many spent at least a few hours at 24 degrees or
lower.
The good news is that should help a lot of you folks suffering from allergies.
The other good news is that the thermometer can only go up from there. We're
looking at highs in the 50s today, and even a few 60s and 70s in the Panhandle
for a preview of coming attractions. Lows will drop below freezing across mostly
eastern Oklahoma as that dome of high pressure slides off to the east, then
we will see a rapid warm-up the next few days.
More bad news, however ... watch for another outbreak of cold air coming early
next week. Our rain chances go up a bit over the weekend, but mainly for
eastern Oklahoma.
You want a happy place? Try indoors in front of the heater vent!
