Spring has sprung!

Your friendly neighborhood Ticker Staff is announcing the official beginning of
spring in celebration of the state's first 80-degree temperature in the last
four months. We don't really have the power to do this, but nobody else claimed
it so we'll take it until somebody does.

Hollis reached 80 degrees at 4:15 p.m., which is the highest temperature
measured by the Oklahoma Mesonet since Arnett and Woodward reached 81 degrees
on November 13, 2009.

Now that the temperatures are rising, the plants are growing and the winds are
blowing, it's time to start worrying about increasing evapotranspiration
demands. March has been fairly dry across the state, especially in the west:

We realize that's only for 29 days, but it comes during our transition to the
growing season and hopefully the spring rainy season.

We're hoping for some 90s later this week. Oh yeah, there will be wind (which
adds to the ET demands). It is Oklahoma, after all.
