Below-Normal Temps Reign in February
Noting the late February run of cloudy, cold days, a Ticker reader
asked to look at temperatures vs. normal over the last few weeks.
So, here's a look at high temperatures vs. normal since February 2nd:

On the maps, the bluest blues represent temps at least 10 degrees
below normal, while the reddest reds represent temps 10 degrees or more
above normal. You can see cold fronts caught in the act on the
afternoons of Feb 3rd, Feb 15th and Mar 3rd.
February was indeed a cold month, as the maps suggest. Using
preliminary data, Gary McManus of OCS's Climate Information Group
calculated that the month's statewide temperature was about 38.1 F,
more than four degrees below normal. This ranks it in the coldest
quartile (big word, huh?) of Februaries in Oklahoma.
