Back in Town: Drought Update

The entire Ticker staff just returned from Asheville, NC, where
a three-day conference and workshop was held regarding the continued
improvement of the U.S. Drought Monitor and drought monitoring on
a continental scale.

More detailed information tomorrow, but today's Ticker is a reminder
that the Oklahoma Climatological Survey supports the Oklahoma Drought
Management Team by supplying near-real-time data and climatological
expertise during and between drought episodes.

Much of the information that is relevant to the current drought
episode is provided on the web.  The information includes Oklahoma
Mesonet rainfall data, fire danger model output, smoke dispersion
conditions and drought indices.  Some data is updated as often as
hourly (some every 15 minutes), and most of the rest is updated
daily.  The site is located at:
