Welcome to July
July is the second of the climatologist's three summer months.
Climatologically speaking, July is the warmest month of the year for
all of Oklahoma's nine climate divisions. For most of Oklahoma, July
is the driest of the warm season months. This is because the month
falls after the dominance of mid-latitude transitory systems typical
of spring, and before a good chance of significant rainfall from
tropical storms has been established.
In the Oklahoma panhandle, especially the western panhandle, July
marks the middle of the summertime rainy season.
Here are some statewide normals and superlatives for the month:
Normal July precipitation: 2.62"
Oklahoma's wettest July: 9.26" 1950
Oklahoma's driest July: 0.41" 1980
Normal July temperature: 81.7F
Oklahoma's warmest July: 88.1F 1954
Oklahoma's coolest July: 75.9F 1906
