Four Years Ago Today ...

On the afternoon of August 17th, 1994, the Lahoma Mesonet site recorded
wind gusts of 113 mph and 112 mph before being destroyed by wind driven
hail. These gusts remain the strongest ever observed by any Mesonet
station.

The temperature at the Mesonet station briefly dropped to 59 F, and
several cases of hypothermia were reported in the area, due to the
hail and high winds.


Today ...

Very warm temperaures continue to hold near Lahoma in north-central
Oklahoma. Most stations in the area have eclipsed 100 F today, and
several overnight lows in the region were in the mid 70s.
