Another one bites the mud

Okay, I'm really sick of all this rainy weather! Sorry, a bit of drought humor
there. Southwestern Oklahoma was the benefactor of Mother Nature opening up a
can of wet over the last 24 hours. The widespread 2-5 inches of rain that has
fallen in that corner of the state will almost assuredly alleviate the persistent
drought conditions in that part of the state. This Mesonet rainfall map for the
last 24 hours can describe it better than I can. Here are a couple of different
views.

The relief spread up into north central Oklahoma as well. Enid was reporting
widespread street flooding with the storms. That's the nature of Oklahoma
springtime rainfall. Convective storms can and will bring flash flooding.

Unfortunately, much of northwestern Oklahoma has been left out, a day after being
added to the D3 drought category. However, the rain is not over yet! There is
still a chance for northwestern Oklahoma to get rainfall this afternoon. The
Panhandle, especially the western half that is in desperate shape, will probably
be left wanting.

Here are the more robust Mesonet totals from this storm:

Fort Cobb 5.39" Apache 3.05" Mangum 2.51"
