Dr. Storm
I learned a few things about over-performance yesterday.
Wait, me overperform?
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
BWAHAHA!
HAHA!
HA!
ha.
Oh.
No, not me. Check this out.
1. Yesterday's storms: I know we had a moderate risk out, but these storms
really outperformed expectations once they got going. The proof is in the
storm-report pudding, as they (as in ME) say.
We had lots of tornado warnings throughout the night, and throughout the
northern half of the state...both of the supercellular and QLCS variety. But
the straight-line winds probably did the most damage. We definitely added to
the 2025 tornado total, however, which currently stands at a very preliminary 68.
Oh yeah, HECK, it's storming right now for crying out loud! Or it was when I
typed this, so "now" is actually "earlier," but if it's "later," tell me your
secret and snap a picture of me with hair.
2. The rain yesterday and this morning: Lot's of 1-3 inch amounts, but some
even higher added to flooding woes pushing farther south than the flood watch
that was issued. We don't need more rain. Go ask a farmer trying to harvest
wheat.
C. Numbering: Well, this was an underperformance. Sometimes we get it...
sometimes, meh.
4. Yesterday's heat: Look...no, listen. No wait...read! I know we warned of
some good heat on the way for yesterday, but that heat index also outperformed
expectations.
No thank you. And despite today's mild forecast thanks to the cold front giving
us all these storms, more heat is on the way later in the week.
5. Medical procedures on your left foot: if they (you know...THEY!) say "this
might hurt later in the day," believe them. And use that ice and ibuprofen, in
whatever order you desire.
