It's coming

Please listen to what I'm typing...I'm not saying we're about to hit a hunnert
(Okie to English translation: "hundred") on the thermometer for the next 90 (HA,
120) days starting next week, but we will probably start to get a little more
mid-June'ish vs. the sorta mild weather we've been seeing.

Yes, sorta mild...the data don't lie. *I* do, but usually just to myself. "Wow,
nice hair!"

As you can see from the statewide average max temperature departure from the
Mesonet, most of May/June has been cooler than normal. We did have that period
there in mid-May when it got a bit roasty, but not bad for the most part. Our
days above 90 and 100 maps are looking pretty good up to this point.

I mean, look where we were last year in comparison, especially with those 90s!

Just for kicks (stop with the kicking, STOP WITH THE KICKING!), here's where
we were in 2011 at this time. Well, I was actually in Braum's buying milk at
this time in 2011, but CLIMATOLOGICALLY SPEAKING. It's always fun to compare
things to the hottest summer for any state in the history of the United States.
Yeah, we own that.

Want a brutal summer? Not to worry, things can change on a dime (we use nickels
here, moneybags!). Like in 2022, which was the hottest summer in Oklahoma SINCE
2011. Remember? Brutal. And up until June 10, it was fairly mild and wet, and
then on June 10 it got HOT, and dry, and it stayed that way until November.

Don't worry though, we won't make any forecasts based on those comparisons.
Besides, we still have plenty of WET to get through in the next few days before
we worry too much about the heat.
