I know what rain is

You ever wonder what would happen if Lt. Dan and Wilson switched places in
Tom Hanks movies, and Forrest partnered up with a volleyball in his shrimping
company?

What? Oh...yes, I have sought help. Thanks for asking.

Speaking of help, we still need a bit of help with the drought. Remember the
drought? Wildfires, lack of soil moisture, cracked ground, etc.? Most of those
impacts have been lessened, at least, but we still have some longer-term deficits
out there, and plenty of color on that U.S. Drought Monitor map.

Wow! We went from 83% of the state in some form of drought (D1-D4...D0 is abnormally
dry, not a drought designation) to 68%, but that's because the Drought Monitor
has something of a failsafe built in where you don't reduce drought more than
1-category per week. I think we'd see more reductions next week even if it
DIDN'T rain more this week. So basically the entire drought area saw some
improvement this week.

The extreme (D3...red on the map) drought we had dropped from 42% of the state
to ZERO!

Magnifico! Splendid! Extraordinary! Enough about me, though...the rains in that
top map would do wonders for ensuring even more erasures on the drought map. And
those longer-term deficits still show up on our rainfall maps, as well as
impacts like reservoir levels.

Hey, what if instead of ice cream, Forrest was eating Cherry Pop-Tarts?
