October surprise

My genius is well known. Okay, the lack thereof. For example, I thought this was
going to be a fun college football season in Oklahoma.

It's not.

I thought we'd have an ice storm for Halloween.

We won't.

On the other hand, I thought buying all that cardboard at 15 cents/ton would be a
smart investment, what with Amazon and whatnot. Well, it's now up to 17 cents/ton,
and I bought 3 tons. Let's just say there's a yacht in my future!

Okay, enough bragging about my financial prowess (hey, Financial Prowess was my
band's name at Junkyard...it's like Julliard, but not really). All those white
areas on the top map are areas that have received nary a drop of rain for the
month of October thus far, and leaving us with these types of monstrosities...err,
I mean maps.

Now we're not on the path for the driest October on record statewide, but we're
darned close! Congrats to SE OK for being #1.

This is all exaser...exacar...ecsaser...made worse by our extended summer period,
with small interruptions by actual fall weather we've had over the last few
months.

Heck, just look at yesterday for crying out loud (no, it's not raining)! Those
are really close to the all-time record highs for the day.

That's nothing! Well, it's not "nothing," but TOMORROW will really be something!
Tomorrow will be "something" down south...the northern half will see a cool
front before we see a real autumnal front for the weekend. Then more heat, of
course.

What about rain, though? Exactly, what ABOUT rain! Well, maybe, just maybe.

Oh, I forgot to finish...just maybe there is hope for later next week, right
around Halloween, of course.

Here's the thing, though...those storm systems meant to bring that rain are
still out over the Pacific. Woe be to those that forecast rain 7-10 days in
advance during a drought! Just sayin'.

Well, just typin'.

It doesn't have to be a lot, though. Just enough to reset these maps.

Which would help reset THESE maps.

Fire danger is coming, whether we like it or not.
