Frozed
The Ticker is off the rest of the week (and really, the rest of our life...we've
sought help but there is none), but we really had to Tock about those temperatures
this morning. As you can see, we've had our first freeze of the season and in
true Oklahoma fashion, the fun is in overdoing it, no? Seiling wins the prize
for lowest low at 24 degrees, the coldest reading on the Mesonet since March 28.
Buffalo and Jay win the duration below freezing at 6 hours apiece, but Buffalo is
STILL below freezing, so it'll add to that number.
The hard freeze folks--and I'm calling 28 degrees the hard freeze mark...some sez
26, I sez 28--were confined to far northern Oklahoma, but close enough to give
us the heebiliy-jeebilies! Throw in the El Reno Mesonet site with its weird
geographic micro-climate effects for fun.
This freeze is pretty early, in line with the earliest first fall freeze based
on the 1991-2020 normals, and a couple of weeks early from our average first
fall freeze.
We'll now start on another warming trend after a bit of a cool day today,
eventually getting back above normal in a few days.
Other than that, we await the possibility of rain across western OK and the
Panhandle.
See it. Believe it?
