Everybody's working for the weekend

Climatologically speaking (and also Dutch speaking), we're on the proverbial
"downward slide" towards fall. This is the same trajectory my hair took several
decades ago, sadly, and if you love summer, same deal. NO, you won't lose your
hair (keep telling yourself that...it doesn't work!), but you will lose summer.

Eventually.

Not today, of course.

Nor tomorrow.

Not even Thursday. But then we get to that magical Friday, and for a brief time,
we'll remember what Fall feels like, and we'll yearn for its lovely embrace.
The falling leaves, the cool, crisp morning air. The pumpkin spice latt...wait
a minute. Pumpkin spice lattes.

PUMPKIN SPICE LATTES?!?

NOOOOOOOO!!

(Dramatic scene...end).

Summer will come back after a good 2-3 day period of relief. It's August in
Oklahoma, was there ever any doubt?

And with the possibility of that cold front comes the possibility of rain this
weekend. Most up in northern OK, but any little bit helps.

Now all of this is predicated on the premise (Hey, Predicated on the Premise was
my band's name in Reform School!) that the front makes it this far south, and
that's been touch and go for awhile. I have no problem with the OTHER premise
of "I'll believe it when I see it" with this front either. But its possibility
is better than the alternative, which is monotonous heat.

Hey, Monotonous Heat...oh never mind. All eyes on this weekend!
