West is the best
Severe winds are implied, of course. I didn't put them on there because it's
western Oklahoma. They get 70 mph winds WITHOUT thunderstorms, so nothing knew to
them. Yeah, I now I said "knew," and I new I said "now." You don't come here for
proper spelling and grammar! Wait, why do you come here?
Oh yeah, marginal weather expertise, especially on marginal risk days.
Hey, it's marginal risk for ME, and that's what really matters. After all, I am
the State Narcissist! I mean Climatologist! The setup is nothing like last
weekend, however. There should be storms both days, but a severe weather outbreak
doesn't appear likely. I say "doesn't appear" because...Oklahoma. The threat will
be a bit more substantial Wednesday, but tornado risk will still be considered
"low," at least at this time. The threat of big hail is a bit higher, which is
not what those wheat farmers across the western half of the state want to hear.
Hey, I don't want to hear the sound of my towel squeaking along the top of my
head when I get out of the shower either, but it's reality! But any severe
reports should be a bit more isolated than last weekend, at least.
Now remember, things could take a turn for the better (less severe risk), but
they could also take a turn for the worse (more severe risk), so you gotta
stay weather aware the next couple of days for sure, especially out across
western Oklahoma.
Flooding might be the biggest concern over the next week or so, when you combine
the rain chances through Thursday with more rain chances into the weekend. Some
significant rainfall amounts are possible.
By the way, do we see our first 100 today, up in NW OK? Forecast highs are only
in the mid-90s, but the drought-plagued ground up there might just bake up a
triple-digit if we're not careful.
