Turnaround
I did something really stupid yesterday. No, I didn't go out and buy shampoo! What
is your fascination with my hair, or lack thereof?? No, I mowed the lawn at 3 p.m.
in the afternoon (as opposed to 3 p.m. in the morning, which would have been
really odd!). Ya see, I thought it was going to storm later here in Norman, so
I wanted to be free and clear to watch the weather roll in AND have the lawn cut
before the rain.
Well LOL to you, too.
Yeah, so I mowed the lawn in this:
When I could have been mowing in this.
I could have been mowing in this, which would have gotten me a lot of strange
looks.
And it neither rained NOR stormed in Norman, either, so there ya go. Oh, I made
it out okay...I'm still something of a hardy soul when it comes to heat, and
even the humidity. The kicker is that heck, it's raining right now for crying
out loud!
So a lawn mowing meteorological faux pas yesterday, to say the least. Dang it
Jim, I'm a climatologist, not a meteorologist!
As for today, we will see our coolest non-rainfall assisted day in quite awhile
as we've been mired in the depths of summer for about 3 weeks now, dating back
to July 24 when we had a massive change in our summer fortunes.
And enjoy it whilst it lasts, because summer roars back later this week.
And next week.
Our rain chances go to nil for the next week or so, and even though we need the
rain desperately in some areas, it's good to get a breather for a bit. The
storms over the last week have acted in true summer severe fashion, coming with
winds over over 70 mph way too often, including a 94 mph gust at Watonga Friday
night, and 84 and 89 mph at Watonga (the 11th) and Marshall (last night).
That rain has been very welcome, however, especially in those remaining hard-hit
drought areas.
But for now, enjoy the cooler weather. But remember this...if it never got hot,
there wouldn't be such a thing as "cool."
Trust me...I'm an expert on not being cool.
