Crazy Cold!
Now now, we've seen you out there driving around with two eyeholes scraped into
the impenetrable glaze on your windshield. And if you're one of those lunatics
that tried pouring hot water on your windshield, only to find out it froze right
back, then you earned yourself double duty. NOBODY wants to stand in the cold
today and scrape their windshield, of course, but wanna see something REALLY crazy?
It was actually colder yesterday morning than today.
"But how can this be since the big cold front came through last night, Gary?"
you ask yourself, once again showing concerning signs of calling yourself by my
name. Well, because yesterday morning was clear, so no cloud cover like today
trapping in the heat close to the surface (i.e., a lack of radiational cooling),
and also light winds yesterday compared to today, so a bit more mixing this
morning.
That wind is also blowing some snow around across NE OK, not showing up in our
unheated gauges yet.
Maybe later today if we can eek out a few degrees above freezing as our high
temperatures are headed to record low maximum temperature territory.
Right. So that would mark today as "unusually cold." It's still mid-November, so
it doesn't get REALLY REALLY cold too often. Even the record low temperatures
are mostly in the teens, and none below zero, signifying November's place as a
late-fall month rather than an early-winter one.
So rest easy--and often--as you scrape away this morning. Remember, it's illegal
to drive with a windshield frosted over. Yes, I WILL tell on you.
