For me, Mav?
Ever notice how everybody in "Top Gun" is sweaty, all the time? They go to a bar,
sweaty. They're on an aircraft carrier, sweaty. They take a shower, sweaty. Did
they film in east central Oklahoma in July or something? And hey, speaking of sweat,
our interrupted summer is about to come back over the weekend. How interrupted, you
asked? Well that's what I heard. I also heard something about Milky Ways being
better than Snickers, which caused me to snicker. Get it?
Get help?
Oh yeah, interrupted summer. Check out the statewide average long-term max
temperature (2007-2021) vs. what has happened thus far this spring. We started
out on a cool note, and we might get to finish on a warm note. But, we have had
one heckuvan (it's a word...don't bother looking it up because the conspiracy
against my writing is massive) upward tick shortened by one heck of a (not nearly
as fun, see?) downward plunge.
But the upper-level low pressure system that has plagued AND helped our state
over the last week is finally vamoosing, which will leave us with lots of
sunshine and warmer weather.
The warm up starts tomorrow, really, with today still being on the cool side
behind the northerly winds wrapping around that low.
So if you're going to see "Top Gun: Maverick" today, you'll need to wear pants.
Hey, at least wear shorts or you'll end up in the brig.
The rains this week and over the last 30 days have been like a missile shot
against the drought. Okay, it's annoying, I'll stop. But those rains...massive.
Those rains have left us with a pretty serious drought remaining over parts of
western OK, especially the western Panhandle...but it's a good start to
taming this dry spell that has lasted since last August.
I think we'll see another short of cooler air and perhaps more rain as we get
into the middle of next week, and that might once again help that drought in
western Oklahoma.
Oh yeah, another thing to get ready for this weekend...the wind. But that will
help keep those mosquitos grounded, because the wind acts like a jet wash, and
you know what happens when you fly through jet wash.
I know, I know...I couldn't resist.
